We’ve been having an incredible time out on the water, reeling in a ton of large mouth bass fish lately. On some days, we’re landing anywhere from 40 to 50 of these bass fish beauties, and the secret weapon has been golden shiners. We’ve been fishing them right next to the Kissimmee grass, using a free lining technique without any bobber. For our setup, we’re going with 4/0 kahle hooks paired with 30-pound Power Pro line, which has been working wonders for us.

But it’s not just the live bait that’s been doing the trick; we’ve also been having success with lures. One of our go-to options has been flukes in a watermelon seed color, which we’re casting through the grass using 20-pound braid and a 3/0 wide gap hook. The action has been fantastic, and we’ve been able to entice some of the more cautious fish with this setup. It’s all about finding the right spot and making that perfect cast.

For those bass that are a bit more finicky, we’ve been using weightless trick worms. The strategy here is to throw them right against the grass and let them sit for a minute or two before reeling them in. This dead-sticking technique has proven effective in getting those more elusive bites.
